消炎痛的止痛和退热作用较阿司匹林强, 对关节痛、肌肉痛、头痛等均有效。可应用于感冒、发热、枕大神经炎、血管炎等引起的头痛。其副作用和阿司匹林相似, 但较阿司匹林为重, 所以只有在患者不能耐受阿司匹林时, 才选用消炎痛。
是吲哚类衍生物,其解热、抗炎、抗风湿作用较阿斯匹林强。但不良反应多，故仅用于对其他药不能耐受或疗效不显著的风湿、类风湿性关节炎的病人。
